explorer at heart
I spent fifteen years teaching at international schools in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and South America. During that time I travelled deeply into the wilds of those continents, hiking, climbing and paddling my way into some of the most beautiful and uninhabited regions on the planet.
In my late thirties my interests shifted to exploring internal landscapes. I returned to Canada to earn my Masters degree in counselling psychology from the University of Toronto. I became a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, spending the next decade working as a counsellor with children in school settings and in private practice with adults. During that period I pursued more specialized therapeutic training and gave counselling-related presentations to the public across the Sea to Sky region of British Columbia. I also founded and led InnerLandscapes, a hiking retreat company dedicated to the exploration of midlife transition through the lenses of poetry and the natural world.
I now make my home in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is the base from which I travel the continent as a filmmaker, chronicling the journeys of brave individuals who go inward in search of what calls to them from the backcountry of their own heart. I also use my camera in the specialized form of coaching I provide to promote deeper self-awareness in business and organizational leaders.
